Special College Entrance Course

This special course is for students who wish to attend a college or university in Japan or overseas after they graduate from secondary school. Japan's best English preparatory school, i.e., the TOFL Seminar Institute, and Atmark have jointly established accredited preparatory courses for major entrance exams, including the SAT, TOEFL, TEOIC, and EIKEN. Upon successful completion of any of these preparatory courses, any gained credit hours may be used towards high school graduation.

Provided the student has sufficient transferable credits from a previous school, he/she can graduate in as short as 6 months and successfully enter the university of his/her choice. Since all course hours for entrance exams are counted as high school credits, students can save time and money while efficiently preparing to take college entrance examinations.

Many Japanese private and national universities are adopting the "Admission Office Entrance Examination and Self Recommendation Entrance Examination," also known as the AO Examination. Keio University started using the AO Examination about 10 years ago, and almost all private universities are now adopting it for new applications.

Special Course for Japanese Universities

This course is primarily designed for students who wish to attend Japanese international liberal arts universities, such as Sophia University, Waseda University, ICU University, and other private universities in Japan where acceptance is based on TOEFL and/or TOEIC scores.

Students take the mandatory Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a similar class and intensively study English in order to improve their test scores. Many private Japanese universities are now accepting applicants with SAT, TOEFL, or TOEIC scores at or above a certain level as part of their AO Examination policy.

Atmark will assist the students with the following: selecting appropriate universities for application, preparing the application documents, and improving each student's overall academic level such that they can successfully pass the entrance exams and interviews of the selected colleges.

Atmark and TOFL offer the services of the following three specialists to assist students in their journey to obtain a high school diploma and proceed to college:
1) a placement counselor who has the newest information regarding college entrance examinations and helps students select the most appropriate college;
2) an English teacher who guides the student while they study for the SAT, TOEFL, or TOEIC;
and
3) a private learning coach who works with the student to specifically help them obtain a high school diploma throughout his enrollment.

In this course, each student can earn English or free elective course credits to be used toward high school graduation.
