東京の大学に進学志望のアフリカ留学生

S.T.さんは今年3月に中央アフリカのザンビア共和国から日本の秋田県に移住してきた高校生です。お父さんが国立大学で博士号を取得するために家族で来日しました。国立大学の留学担当者が、S.T.さんに東京インターハイスクール（TIHS）への編入（ザンビアの高校から）を勧めました。高校３年生での編入なので、来年４月に東京の大学に進学をする予定です。 以下、英語のインタービューです。S.T.さんは、ザンビア共和国の説明資料も用意してくれました。

Why did you come to Japan?

I came to Japan because my father was offered a scholarship to study at Akita University. My father is pursuing his PhD in Engineering.

How did you find Inter-High School?

When I relocated to Akita, Japan, I was in my final year of high school in Zambia. The AkitaUniversity Admissions Office introduced me to Tokyo Inter-highshcool so that I can complete my senior year in Japan.

What are you studying now?

Right now I am studying English. I like to read all kinds of materials whether it is a newspaper, novel books, or magazines and others. I am trying to pick up the words that I do not understand and look them up in the dictionary.I am using the Internet to lean how to summarize a passage, write a report, write a speech etc. I plan to study TOEFL and SAT.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation I hope to get a scholarship just like my father and study business administration at a university in Tokyo.

How do you find your life in Akita?

Living in Akita is great. I mean, the place is quiet and peaceful; people are friendly. You can’t ask for anything better.
